I'm making an artifact of what I'm working on and thinking about.
I'm externalizing more to give more surface area for growth and connection.
I'm Allison Guman. I'm a software engineer at Palantir, where I build infrastructure for AI-first platforms. I like building the data layers and infra for workflows that let organizations see clearly and make informed decisions with AI in the loop. Before Palantir, I spent 1.5 years at SpaceX writing flight and ground software for Starshield: on-orbit fault detection and response, ground station efficiency services, and APIs that fed telemetry and ephemeris data into beam planning to keep the network connected. I am abstractly interested in plumbing and how you represent and data so that both people and models can effectively act on it.
Studies: Mathematics at Columbia (BA), Electrical Engineering at Stanford (MS)
Primary Interests: abstract math (especially formal logic), electrical engineering & computer science (verification, planning and optimization, data representation/data layers for decision making), philosophy (especially metaphysics), and finance (market design, corporate finance, financial modeling, and history of finance)
Hobbies: tennis, skiing, reading literature and philosophy, hiking/jogging/wandering in nature/cities.
Fun facts: My middle name is Kiran, which I'm pretty fond of. Apparently it is inspired by "little dark one" in Irish (Ciaran) and "thread of light" in Sanskrit (Kirana). I like that sunbeam or "thread of light" has both gentleness and intensity to it. I also like the duality of the dark and light name inspiration; it also matches my hair that grows in almost black and then bleaches in the sun. I also have trace Punjab and Irish heritage, so I guess it's fitting in that way as well. I'm mostly of Swiss/German descent though.
